Lab Packs, Overpacks and Salvage Drums Provide Safe Storage
and Handling of Hazardous Materials.
Blow-molded Poly Drums Offer Durability And
Chemical Resistance
Lab packs, overpacks and salvage drums made of durable high density polyethylene
provide excellent containment for hazardous materials. Blow-molded HDPE
drums have a very high molecular weight designed for an optimum balance
of density, weight distribution and high impact resistance. These durable
poly drums are resistant to environmental stress cracks, while possessing
incredible impact strength, even in low temperatures. Operating temperature
range is -30 degrees F to 130 degrees F.
Poly drums offer chemical resistance to a wide range of chemicals. It's
UV protection provides superior blending process that ensures this drums
won't fade or discolor in ultra violet light.
What is the difference between lab packs, overpacks
and salvage drums?
Lab Packs - for use with smaller non-damaged bottles, cans and
5 gallon pails of non-leaking hazardous materials. If leaking, must pack
with sufficient sorbents for - NO FREE LIQUIDS.
Over Packs - for use with larger non-damaged bottles,
cans and drums of non-leaking hazardous materials. If leaking, must pack
with sufficient sorbents for - NO FREE LIQUIDS.
Salvage Drums - for use with damaged or leaking containers
of hazardous materials or used absorbent materials contaiminated with
a hazardous substance. Require "Salvage Drum" labeling and must
pass a 3-PSI pressure test.
What do the UN/DOT Markings Mean?
UN markings on a drum indicate that the container has been tested to
meet performance oriented packaging (POP) standards outlined by tyhe US
Department of Transportation (DOT) at 49 CFR178.
A typical UN marking: 1H2/X300/S/05/USA/M4990

Indicates the kind of packaging - "1" means
a drum. |
H |
Indicates the material of construction - "H" means plastic. |
2 |
Indicates the category of packaging - "2" means a removable
head drum |
X |
Indicates the performance standard the package has successfully
passed - "X" means it meets Packing Groups I, II & III.
(drop height of 6 feet) |
300 |
Indicates the maximum gross mass in kilograms - "300"
means 300 kilograms or (2.2 x 300) 660 lbs. |
S |
Indicates that the package is intended to contain solids - "S"
means solids. |
