A cleanroom is a controlled environment where goods are manufactured. They have been designed to lessen the level of particulates in the air such as dust and airborne microbes. Cleanroom wipes are available in a variety of materials that are suitable for environments to be cleaned. These wipes also have different properties relating to absorption, heat resistance and chemical resistance. Cleanroom wipes can be made from:
Cotton. Cotton cleanroom wipes are relatively heat-resistant, making them ideal for use on most acids and solvents. They have a neutral static charge and are adequately absorbent.
Cellulose wipes. These economical wipes have a good absorbency in relation to mass per unit area and have a neutral static charge.
Polyester-cellulose wipes. These cleanroom general purpose wipes have a relatively low particle emission. They have good absorbency with solvents and are excellent stain removers. They are best used for cleanup of steel nets and other metal equipments.
Polyester wipes. They are ideal for cleaning and wiping in ISO Class 5 cleanroom environments. Made from 100% polyester or nylon, these wipes feature low particle release. They are designed for rigorous wiping with minimal fiber release.
